Modern Insider Has Moved! [To WordPress]
Just a quick note about blog maintaince. After running into some issues with the old platform I’ve taken the plunge and moved the site from Moveable Type to WordPress.
This move hopefully has little or no impact on your experience but it is possible you’ll find a broken image or link. If you do please leave a comment or just contact me so I can get it fixed ASAP. Thanks!
A little more detail for the techies:
While both the Movable Type and WordPress platforms offer great features using WordPress on some other sites I’m simply happier with how it runs and the plugins avaliable for it. In fact the only reason I didn’t make a switch a few months ago was out of fear of everything breaking but I have to say, between the export process in Moveable Type and the WordPress import system it was really a snap. The whole process took just a couple of minutes for the data and not too long to configure the layout and plugins either.
Finally, using some htaccess code from this old WorldPress entry I was able to insure all my old urls worked so no bookmark/ link/ search engine issues (hopefully) and all the images were already stored in the file system so no issues there.
If you’re thinking of converting your site I’m probably not the techie guru to ask questions to but I’d be glad to try and help if I can.
